I'll upgrade the your HM-151 for $39.50 plus return shipping (see about the shipping below). Nobody wants to loose their mic, so you send it pre-paid to me and I'll promise 24 hr turn-around (same day if possible).

This way, it will be up to you how fast things happen.
It would be possible to have as little as a 72 hr door to door upgrade (with over-night shipping both directions). It's your choice.

As soon as I receive your mic, I'll perform the upgrade that day and have it packed and re-shipped by the next morning-or before (Sunday's excluded). I'll ship the original parts back to you as well. I've set the price where it covers the parts and a little time for me, but is still much less expensive than the next cheapest option (installing a ham-brand element and cap yourself). I'm trying to make it a great value!

    I will:

1. Tag the mic with your name and calls (in-house tracking)

2. Test the mic for proper operation when it arrives

3. I email you to tell you it has arrived safely

4. Dis-assemble it and replace the mic element and capacitor.

5. Do initial audio check with service monitor

6. Add shaped acoustic foam to the shell to kill "hollowness".

7. Add 1oz weight to rear shell - potted in cement (if desired)

8. Widen mic opening to 5/64ths and affix a white silk wind screen and thin foam slice behind it. (Pop filter)

8. Re-assemble it and test all it's functions. (FM, SSB, buttons)

9. Re-pack it, label it and ship it back.

10. Email you with a status report

Weight option:
Icom neglected to add a ballast weight to these mics. Most manufacturers do this to improve the mic's feel in your hand. I've found that adding a one ounce weight behind the acoustic foam really makes the mic handle better. If you want this free option, please just indicate this on your order.

I believe this is the most cost-effective way to address this problem.
The short-term loss of your mic will be well worth the long-term pleasure you have by using a microphone with the correct levels and tonal quality to match the 7000.  If you don't agree it's a worthy improvement, just send it back and I'll un-mod it - and refund your money - no questions. I want you to be really happy with the performance or I'm not keeping your money.

Please email or call me so I may answer any questions you may have.

To order the upgrade: (USA Domestic stations)

I suggest using a US Post office priority mail shipping box.
It is free at the post office.
It takes about 2-3 days and is $4.80 inside the USA.
Remove the mic's coil cord if possible. (press pin rear-bottom)
Add a note with your  Email address, shipping address and tell me if you want the added ballast weight.  Easiest method is to just bring your mic in a zip-loc bag with the note - to the post office. They can make a postal money order right there ($46.45) and provide everything else you need free. Presto. I'm fine with personal checks too. You can ship it UPS or FedEx as well. (Pack it in a zip-loc bag with newspaper or plastic peanuts stuffed around it.)

Total cost is then $39.50 & $4.80 shipping Priority mail USPS.
(continental USA only) I highly suggest insurance..which is $2.15 extra. ($100 ins. value) ($46.45 total)  ( I can't be responsible for USPS mishaps)
If you are not in the continental USA, please email me for info.

DX Station Return Mic Shipping: Western European countries are generally $10.50 for 1st class shipping and $20 USD for Express Priority.
Email me for specifics. Canada is less.

Kit form DX Stations only please!  AS OF MAY  2007
I am making a kit form of the upgrade available for DX stations only.
This is because of the shipping distance and time. The cost is $25.00 USD plus 3.00 Shipping ($29 USD total). The kit includes the prepped type #2 Mic element, capacitor/matching assembly, foam inserts and a video CD of the install process (windows media file). It does not include the 1oz lead weight which is easy to obtain and not worth the postage to ship. (fishing weight or washers). DX stations- you can still send me your mic too! Please click here for Kit ordering info.

NOTICE: I had to discontinue offering kits to US stations because the type two element is much more difficult to prepare for install. The time required to prepare the kit is the same as to install one in a mic.
I'm offering this to DX stations as a courtesy. I apologize for dis-continuing it for stateside stations. I want to keep quality high and costs low.

Thanks!

PS: This upgrade and all E-communications are carried out using photovoltaic renewable energy. Mics are delivered back to the post
office in a fully electric car.
